Such Pretty Problem
The World Tree area rug is available via the Ultima Store for Sovereigns (purchasable from the Origin Store of EA). The large version is a 5x5 tile, round area rug. It is dye-able and a rather nice add-on to the home. One was acquired for the YCC and quickly dyed green to compliment the gold. It has sat in the YCC Great Hall ever since.
As needs within the YCC calls for a remodel, the World Tree rug is being moved to a new area in the Entrance Hall. Tandy has been busy building the new areas, and is now ready to decorate. The first bit, move the rug. Easy enough...
So the rug is moved and Tandy mounts her favored moving-bug and...

A Creative Fix
To keep things from falling under a floating floor, the best thing to do is to raise it up by a factor of one. Easy enough with standard items, but what about a multi-tile item from a deed? To take care of this, one must raise each tile of the item simultaneously - or place it higher than the floor originally. Another deeded item that comes in handy, the Square Goza! To remedy the rug falling through the floor, you will need the following:- Several Square Gozas (in this case, 25 total)
- A Contrasting Color, Square Goza
- Interior Decorator Tool
- Hatchet or Axe
- The Large World Tree rug deed
To begin, map out the placement of your deeded item (in this case, 5x5 tiles for a total of 25 times). Use the Contrasting Colored Goza for the "placement tile". This would the tile that is needed to click to get the World Tree rug in place.
After placing the goza, use the Interior Decorator tool and raise each goza by 1 unit (only 1 is needed).

All goza must be raised by equal unit, or the multi-deed item will not place. |
Next, placement of the World Tree is as easy as clicking the deed and targeting the contrasting goza.
The tree is placed! Yay! Now, get rid of the gozas by using the hatchet (or axe) to chop them back into deed form.
Some of the tiles may be a bit tricky, which is why a good eye is necessary. If you accidentally "chop" the rug, you will have to start all over again, so a steady hand is also required.
(OR - you can just go ahead and skip to the next step.)
But this is not over yet. Checking the placement (see Player Notes below) is necessary. Tandy calls to her Giant Beetle and mounts it once again - to see the rug "drop" once more, and the other goza are now accessible. Do notice that the rug did not fall further under the floating floor. Simply use your hatchet and chop away the remaining gozas.

Now that the World Tree rug is properly placed, Tandy can get back to remodeling the YCC. |
Player Notes
- Using the Circle of Transparency is almost required while decorating any building in the game. While this feature is available in both the Enhanced (EC) and Classic Clients (CC), it is far more superior in management and view in the Classic version. It should be noted, this is the main feature for why many people use the CC over the EC.
- Many decorators will regularly mount and dismount to test newly place or positioned items. Besides, it is always handy to have a "moving van" with you when doing these things - the Giant Beetle is perfect. Tandy's beetle is very old, one of the first beetles tamed on the Napa Shard.
- There is debate among Sosarian Decorators that the "drop upon refresh" is a bug in the system. However, the developers have not remedied the situation since it was first reported years ago regarding other multi-tile items.
- This work-around is not my own creation, but many people forget - as I did - so I figured a tutorial was prudent.
- There are other ways to use goza mats to "break" items for decorating purposes. Some say it is an exploit and should be removed from the game, others enjoy it as it gives them another way to express their creative styles. In any case - it is part of the game now, and so is used in many different ways. Other entries here will explain them.
